Health & Safety

Air 2K adopts the best working practices to ensure that legal duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and other associated regulations such as Work at Height Regulations 2005 and the impact of Work at Height (Amendment) Regulations 2007 are complied with. Our aim is to develop a positive health and safety culture, where safe and healthy working becomes second nature to everyone.

In addition, we are conscious of the health & safety issues surrounding the impact that some types of air conditioning, once installed, may have on others, such as those systems employing water in evaporative cooling processes.

This sort of air conditioning system has the potential to cause outbreaks of disease if not properly maintained, e.g. by producing legionella bacteria which can cause legionnaires’ disease. This is why planned maintenance and servicing is vital to the effective working of a system.

Some types of air conditioning systems have been contributing factors to a phenomenon known as Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). The symptoms of SBS commonly include:

  • dry/itchy skin
  • headaches
  • lethargy
  • runny nose/dry throat

To avoid contributing to SBS it is important to have an air conditioning maintenance contract in place.
